Free program helping Eastern Suburbs residents reduce their energy bills

With recent electricity price hikes of up to 30 per cent affecting most homes, Waverley and Woollahra Councils have teamed up with non-profit initiative Our Energy Future to help Eastern Suburbs residents find ways to cut their energy bills.

Waverley and Woollahra residents can now get free and independent advice on how to slash their energy bills by calling the Our Energy Future helpline or by attending one of the free workshops taking place across the Eastern Suburbs.

The team at Our Energy Future is on hand to provide advice around how people can make their homes more energy efficient without sacrificing comfort, providing details of the latest products and technologies available and reputable companies to get them from.

Lucas Atkinson from Waverley Council’s Sustainability team says the helpline can also explain how solar power works and where to start for those looking at investing in solar at home.

“Solar power is now more affordable than ever, making it a great option for many households; however, with so much information out there it can be hard to know where to start.”

Our Energy Future can provide advice about the best solar system based on individual needs and provide obligation-free quotes. Suppliers have been vetted through a thorough procurement process so you can be confident in their quality and competitive prices.

Tom Cull, local Bondi builder and resident says of his new power solar system and batteries: “By making clean green energy at home, I’ll be making huge bill savings within the next five years, whilst doing my bit for the planet.”

“We hope this new program connects our residents with the information they need to reduce their home energy bills and save money,” Chris Munro from Woollahra Council’s Sustainability team said.

Residents can call 1300 339 915 for advice (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) or visit Our Energy Future for tips and information from LED lighting, hot water and insulation to renewable energy and solar power.
