Traffic Management Plan ahead of Australia Day
Our beaches are some of the most frequently visited in Australia, with numbers upwards of 500,000 visitors to Bondi Beach alone over the summer period.
During this busy summer period, there are increased pressures on the transport network and parking facilities located at Bondi and Bronte beach in particular.
To ensure ongoing safe operations of the local road network and to maintain access for emergency vehicles, we will be actively managing the entrances to Queen Elizabeth Drive and Park Drive on weekends and public holidays until the end of January and managing traffic around Bronte Beach on the Australia Day weekend.
The Queen Elizabeth Drive and Park Drive vehicle entrances will be intermittently closed based on the volume of vehicles and activity in the streets, meaning that drivers may not be able to park in these locations.
At Bronte Beach, parts of the local road network will be limited to resident access only.
Visitors to Bondi and Bronte Beach are encouraged to use public or active transport, or should plan to use other parking facilities in the respective areas. See https://www.wilsonparking.com.au/parking-locations/new-south-wales/eastern-suburbs/pacific-bondi-car-park/
When visiting our beaches, please also remember to keep you and your loved ones safe by swimming between the red and yellow flags, and staying sun safe. More beach safety advice can be found here.
