We’re brightening up this August with inspiring author talks, magical theatre shows, and heartwarming coffee mornings. Plus, this month, you can Have Your Say on the future of Bondi Junction or come and chat with the Mayor about the issues that are important to you.
Meet the Mayor, across Waverley

Got a question for Mayor of Waverley, Will Nemesh? Come and join us at the last two Meet the Mayor pop-ups to have a chat with him about Council-led projects, initiatives, programs, issues, processes and general feedback.
IMAGINE LIVE, coming to Bondi Pavilion

16 August / 11 am and 2 pm / Tickets from $25
Magical and meaningful, IMAGINE LIVE is a celebration of creativity, friendship and our precious natural world. With the help of the audience, performers play and sing their way through the pages of Alison Lester’s iconic best-selling book and quickly discover there is WAY more to these pages than they first thought.

Author talks at Waverley Library

6 and 22 August / 6.30 pm - 8 pm / Free
Did you know that we host regular author talks at our library?
This month, we’re joined by Rosemary Gattuso, who will share her ground-breaking approach to reframing overthinking as a powerful tool for personal growth. Then, later in the month, the award-winning Egyptian-Australian writer and journalist, Daniel Nour, will join us to share more about his new memoir, a heartfelt tale of culture, family and trying, but not always managing, to come of age.

Story Time at the Boot Factory

13 August / 10 am – 10.30 am / Free
We have officially brought Story Time to the beautiful Boot Factory every second Wednesday of the month. Bring along your 3–5-year-olds for an interactive program of stories, rhymes and fun, plus a craft to take home for each child.
Coffee, Tea and Mortality – A Death Café Gathering at the Mill Hill Community Centre

22 August / 10 am – 12 pm / Free
Death Cafés are a worldwide movement, taking place in over 90 countries. They are non-judgmental and compassionate environments, where anyone can explore their thoughts and feelings about death, dying and end-of-life options. Come along to our August Death Café gathering for a warm cuppa and chat about all things end-of-life.
Recycle it Saturday is back in Alexandria

23 August / 9 am – 3 pm
Council encourages residents to recycle whenever and wherever possible, in line with our zero waste targets. Recycle It Saturday is a drive-through event that allows residents to dispose of their tricky household items and waste thoughtfully, effectively giving second life to still-good items, or allowing for waste to be recycled properly. Have Your Say on the future of Bondi Junction!

Pop-ups happening on 13 and 14 August / Consultation live until 28 August
A bold new vision for the Bondi Junction town centre is one step closer, with the commencement of early public consultation to inform the development of a Strategic Vision. Community input is now being sought on the once-in-a-generation reshaping of this vital precinct, to set a clear long-term direction for community outcomes, transport, public space and land use.
