Why are we offering this rebate?

Waverley Council is committed to becoming a zero-waste community and transitioning towards a circular economy. Surprisingly, nappies and sanitary products make up around 6% of waste generated in Waverley. On average, women and people who menstruate use approximately 11,000 disposable menstrual products in their lifetime which equates to around 200kgs of single-use waste. Single-use nappies have a similarly detrimental impact on the environment with one child using approximately 4,000 – 6,000 disposable nappies, all of which end up in landfill and take 150+ years to break down. While making the switch can cost a little more upfront, in the long run these products can save you $1,000s!

What does the rebate cover?
