North Bondi
North Bondi is an established residential area. The North Bondi Precinct is bounded by Ramsgate Ave, Mitchell St, Muriverie Rd, Military Rd, Bondi Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean. Please note boundary lines run through the middle of the street. North Bondi Precinct is part of the Bondi Ward.
North Bondi includes the locality of Ben Buckler. Bondi is named for the area north of Bondi, which is named from an Aboriginal word meaning “sound of the waves breaking on the beach”.
Settlement of the area dates from 1809 when the first land grant was made. Growth was minimal until the late 1800s, continuing through to the 1930s. Expansion continued during the 1960s and 1970s. The population declined slightly during the 1990s, and then was relatively stable between 2001 and 2006.
Major features of the area include Bondi Golf Club, Barracluff Park, Hugh Bamford Reserve, the Bondi Golf Club (Williams Park), Ben Buckler headland and a number of schools.
