The MAKERS Craft + Design Program builds creative capability and connection in the community through a broad range of mediums arising from a design approach. Through digital, traditional and contemporary mediums participants explore materials and personal and societal concepts.

Waverley Council presents Crafts you haven't tried; a series of talks, workshops and experiences on the cutting edge of contemporary craft. Join us for intimate, artist lead talks, workshops and demonstrations across craft-forms you might not have tried before.

Crafts you haven't tried -Yarn Bombers Anonymous

Saturday, 10 October 2020. 11am- 3.30pm

In this workshop you will learn from acclaimed contemporary Artist Kirsten Fredericks about the subversive and political potential of wool before contributing to an outdoor yarn bombing creation for the Bondi Festival.

Ever wanted to try Macrame, then this beginners class is for you.  Macrame is the art of knotting string in patterns to make decorative pieces for your home.

Crafts you haven't tried -Talkin' Taxidermy (Talk and Demonstration)

Rest in Pieces presents the Art of Taxidermy, a talk and skinning demonstration with founder Natalie Delaney-John. The evening offers an opportunity to gain unique insights into this age-old practice that remains macabre to some, yet strangely beautiful to others.


Crafts you haven't tried - Contemporary Collage (Talk and Demonstration)

Thursday, 15 October 2020. 6 - 7.30pm

An intimate talk and demonstration with one of Sydney's leading collage artists, Stephen Tierney. Tierney is an exciting media artist and designer known for his striking, minimalist collages assembled using images cut from vintage magazines of the 40's and 50's.
