Mindful Jewellery Making: Day of the Dead
Waverley Library
Details
Immerse yourself in the art of mindful jewellery making while designing and crafting a beautiful pair of beaded dangle earrings and bracelet to celebrate the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a vibrant festival in Mexico from October 31 to November 2, honoring deceased loved ones. Rooted in indigenous and Catholic traditions, it involves creating altars with photos, food, marigolds, and sugar skulls. Families gather in cemeteries to clean graves and share memories, celebrating the belief that death is part of life's cycle. This colorful tradition has spread across Latin America and beyond.
We'll lead you through the design process, instruct you in the use of round nose pliers, and assist you in creating exquisite beaded dangle earrings. Let your creativity flow as you step away from the daily hustle and bustle and dive into this engaging workshop.
Choose from a vibrant selection of semi-precious beads and enjoy experimenting with various colour combinations. By the end of the workshop, you'll proudly take home a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery that you crafted yourself.
Refreshments provided. This event is for adults only.
