Boardwalk remediation - Eastern Reserve and Diamond Bay Reserve

Eastern Ave & Diamond Bay reserve boardwalk

To ensure the safety and amenity of users of Eastern Ave and Diamond Bay Reserves, we will be repairing elements of the boardwalk. It is our intention to completely replace this structure in the next two years, however, until that time we will be undertaking necessary maintenance.

The remediation works are scheduled to commence 30 March with each boardwalk section expected to take about three weeks to complete. All works should be finished at the end of May 2020 (weather and personnel permitting).

Within this work, we will:

  • Secure unstable timber balustrades with additional fixings
  • Ensure stairways and walkways are secure
  • Replace stainless-steel wires on the balustrades
  • Replace steel posts and timber handrails
  • Replace some stair treads and walkway timbers

For safety and due to the nature of the works the closure of the boardwalks may need to be extended should weather delay works or should additional works to make safe be required.

The work site is split between, Diamond Bay from the Ray and Kimberley Street entry to Craig Avenue entry and the Eastern Reserve boardwalk from Lancaster to Bulga Roads.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while we work to improve safety for the community.
