Barracluff Park Upgrade
In late February 2018, Council engaged an external consultant to undertake an annual playground safety audits which highlighted issues with equipment pieces at Barracluff Park, which were beyond their serviceable life and required removal. As such, Council fenced off and removed the equipment.
Since this time, Council engaged the community to have their say on what they would like to see in this Barracluff park. Community feedback has been paramount in guiding our design for park. Based on community feedback, Council worked closely with a play equipment designer to create a unique play experience, especially for Barracluff Park. The main multi-play equipment will be a one-of-a-kind in Australia. You can view the multi-play equipment here . In addition, Council is determined to provide parks and play spaces for all of the community, guided by the Inclusive Play Space Study (find out more about the strategy here). Barracluff Park Playground will be one of the first inclusive play spaces in Waverley.
In October 2020, Council finalised the detailed design for the park and playground upgrade. Following a 6 – 8 week process of advertising, assessing, reporting and awarding the construction contract, we expect construction to commence in December 2020. Construction duration is estimated to be 3 months.
In the meantime, Council has engaged a separate contractor to build the Warners Avenue footpath connection from the Bondi Bowling Club to Old South Head Road. These works will commence shortly and are expected to be completed in December (weather permitting). Please click here for information on staging.
We thank you for your patience as we work towards upgrading this much-loved community park.
