Transport Policies

The Waverley Transportation Policy has the vision that “transport in Waverley will become more sustainable, reducing negative effects while enhancing residents’ quality of life and local amenity”. Waverley Council’s vision for the area is to see Waverley become a place where traffic congestion is reduced and access and safety are improved, especially because people walk, cycle and use public transport much more, but also because cars and parking spaces are used more efficiently.

Strategies Include:

Integrating land use and transportation in such a way that provides accessibility without relying on excessive mobility, especially by private vehicles. And in turn, provides for users without access to cars.

Improving the attractiveness of public transportation, walking and cycling in Waverley. Hence, encourage residents and visitors to rely on modes of transport alternative to private vehicles.

The Transportation Policy covers:

  • Consultation
  • Demographic and travel patterns
  • Integration of transportation and land use
  • Road network
  • Parking
  • Public transport
  • Bicycle
  • Pedestrian
  • Pilot projects
  • Action plan
