Car share is a convenient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to car ownership. Don’t buy a car … share one! No registration, no maintenance, no petrol charges, no worries.

Waverley Council has approved over 30 car share pods across the local government area including at Bondi Junction, Bondi Beach, North Bondi, Bondi Bronte, Tamarama and Charing Cross. To find out whether there is a pod near you check out the Waverley car share map here.

Car share companies Go Get and Green Share Car operate car share services using these pods. Check out those companies for details of their services, rates and other pods available elsewhere in Sydney.

Car sharing provides Waverley residents with 24-hour access to shared vehicles parked in their neighbourhood. Once you have joined the program, you can book vehicles for as little as an hour via the phone or internet.

Car sharing is a viable option for individuals who don't need a car or that second car full time. Car sharing is a viable option for those who could mostly walk, cycle or use public transport with only occasional need for use of a private car. By selling your (second) car and taking up a car share membership you could save money and eliminate the worries of looking after and parking your car.

Car Share and the community

Car share is also good for the community as by reducing car ownership it can reduce road congestion, parking competition, pollution and deliver environmental benefits. Each active car share pod can result in up to six less cars parked and driven on the local roads. Car-sharing provides the following benefits to the community:

Less car usage, which leads to less traffic and improved air quality;
Reduced number of cars on our roads. The average private car spends most of the time parked while a car share car can be shared by between 10 or 20 people;
Better environmental outcomes through new, fuel-efficient vehicles which means that people are getting out of older, inefficient vehicles and into a cars that are new, well maintained, safer and better for the environment;
Allowing public transport to compete with the car on level playing field, by including all the costs of a car up-front and highlighting the value of public transport.

Choose your preferred car share company. Go Get and Charter Drive run car share schemes in the Waverley area.
Visit your chosen car share company’s web site for how to join and information about their deals.

Locations of car-share parking zones

Waverley Council has provided 36 dedicated car-share vehicle locations, called ‘pods’, at Bondi, Bondi Beach, Bondi Junction, Bronte, North Bondi and Tamarama. Detailed maps of these locations are provided below:
