Problem Waste Recycling Stations

Waverley residents can now drop off their old mobile phones, tablets, ink cartridges and household batteries for recycling at Waverley Library and the Customer Service Centre.

Batteries, phones, tablets and cartridges don't below in our garbage bins. When these items are sent to landfill they can leach toxic or hazardous substances into our soil and possibly even contaminate surface and ground water.

These items also contain valuable or non-renewable resources such as rare earth metals and plastics which can be recovered and incorporated into new products. A number of precious metals including fold, silver and copper can be recovered from mobile ohones opr tablets. Batteries can be dismantled and made into new batteries. Plastics, metals and ink can be recovered from printer cartridges.

Our recycling Stations offer a FREE and easy solution for the responsible disposal and recycling of problem waste items.

What you can drop off

Household Batteries

  • Small handheld batteries
  • Rechargeable and non-rechargeable
  • AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, 6Vlantern and buttom/ watch batteries

Mobile phones and tablets

  • All types of mobile phones (including smart phones)
  • All types of tablets
  • All mobile phone accessories (chargers, cables, batteries)

*You can keep the mobile phone battery in the phone

Printer cartridges

  • Ink jet cartridges
  • Laser cartridges

* Commercial quantities not accepted

What you can't drop off

  • No large batteries like car batteries i.e. lead acid batteries
  • No light bulbs, lamps or fluorescent tubes
  • No chemicals, paints, cleaners, gas bottles etc - These can go to a chemical clean out event or to the Randwick Community Recycling Centre.
  • No bulky e-waste such as:
    • Computers, printers, monitors or computer accessories
    • TVs, DVD and CD players, VCRs, CDs or DVDs
    • Stereo/ Hi-Fi equipment
    • Landline phones
    • Major appliances, whitegoods, small appliances, power tools
    • DVDs, CDs or tapes
    • Toys, hobby equipment, electronic musical instruments

    These can be taken to an E-waste Drop Off Day in March or November.

    Monday - Friday: 9.30am - 9pm

    Saturday: 9.30am - 3pm

    Sunday: 1- 5pm

  • Customer Service Centre

    55 Spring Street, Bondi Junction NSW 2022

    Monday - Friday: 8.30am - 5pm

    Thursday extended hours: 8.30am - 7.00pm

    Please remember these items are recycled, not reused. Before you use this service, consider whether your phone or tablet might be appreciated by someone else in your social circles or if it can be sold or donated to a charity.
