Action on graffiti
Waverley Council Graffiti Team
The team of two removed 1885 incidents of graffiti in 2012, equivalent to 19622 square metres. We use a purpose built graffiti removal truck that operates on natural gas and uses an environmentally safe solution to remove graffiti.
Graffiti removal
We remove graffiti from high profile locations including:
- Major commercial centres
- Gateway locations
- Thoroughfares
- Village centres
- Trouble spots.
Removal of offensive graffiti
We remove offensive graffiti within 24-48 hours of notification. Offensive graffiti includes graffiti which is:
- racist
- sexist
- abusive
- contains crude language
- contains personal information
- depicts graphics of a sexual or violent nature.
'At cost' removal
We remove graffiti for businesses, residents and property owners at an 'at cost' rate:
- you will only be charged the price of the materials/products used to remove the graffiti
- the cost will vary depending on the size of the area and the type of removal
- you can contact our graffiti team on 9083 8000 to organise a quote.
What else is Waverley Council doing?
- We utilise the Australian Graffiti Register to enable tracking of graffiti tags and offenders
- We apply environmental design principles in designing and planning to deter graffiti
- We embrace opportunities to include young people in alternative creative projects
- We develop Place Based projects enhancing civic pride and community ownership of public space
- We encourage residents to be proactive in using preventative measures against graffiti.
