The Rocket is an Australian drama film set entirely in Northern Laos, and spoken in Lao language. It follows the story of a boy who is believed to bring bad luck to everyone around him. After a calamity-filled journey through a land scarred by the legacy of war, to prove he's not bad luck, he builds a giant rocket to enter the most exciting and dangerous competition of the year: the Rocket Festival.

As an Australian production, it was the country’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards. The Rocket won 3 awards at the Berlin Film Festival including Best Debut Feature & the Crystal Bear; Best Narrative Feature , Best Actor and the Audience Award at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival, the Audience Award at both Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals and Best Director at the Australian Director’s Guild Awards.

The producing/writing/directing team of Sylvia Wilczynsk and Kim Mordaunt have made'The Rocket' (2013), ABC TV documentary 'Bomb Harvest' (2007) which sold to over 40 countries and are in development for 'One Crowded Hour', a drama film based on the life story of legendary Australian war cameraman, Neil Davis. They are currently preparing for their next film, a soon-to-be announced political thriller/adventure, which will shoot early next year in Australia and Southeast Asia.
