The opening of the Ron Lander Centre at Bondi Junction has given the Waverley Community a superb modern library, which is one of the largest public libraries in Australia. The new Library, twice the size of the previous library building, has a number of interesting architectural features, including atriums that allow natural light into the building.

There are extra display areas for books, a theatrette with seating up to 80 people, meeting and training rooms, increased multi-media facilities and a specially equipped Children's Library.

In making some of the public areas available for hire the Library invites the community to share its facilities while offering business and industry the use of the fully equipped function venues. The modern venues are ideal for accommodating a range of different functions such as book or product launches presentations, seminars, meetings, auctions and exhibitions.

The new complex is an accessible building conveniently located in Bondi Junction within easy access to the train station and all major bus routes.

Located on site is a parking station that will accommodate up to 120 cars. The car park is open from 7 am – 9pm during the week and when the Library is open on weekends. For extended opening times arrangements can be made directly with Premier Parking Tel: 9635 3033, Fax: 9635 1040.

THEATRETTE

The 80-seat theatrette provides an excellent venue for a wide range of corporate presentations, seminars, meetings, product launches, video or film screenings.

The State of the art facilities include PA system, lectern, multi media and slide projector, computer with Internet access, TV and VCR, CD and DVD, Foxtel, large projection screen, white board, overhead projector and flip chart. For catering purposes an adjoining kitchen is provided. Please note that food or drink is not allowed within the Library’s reading rooms.

Pricing

  • The standard rate for room hire is $550 a day or $275 for ˝ day

  • Minimum booking time is 3 hours

  • Outside Library opening hours a security fee of $60 per hour will be charged

  • If cleaning is required a fee of $50 will be charged

Prior to the booking date it is necessary for the hirer/user to:

  • specify all the equipment that will be required and

  • make themselves familiar with the equipment as there is no technical support outside office hours (9am - 5pm).

Should you require an inspection of the theatrette, please contact the Library to arrange an appropriate time. Bookings are essential and are completed via the relevant booking application form.

MEETING ROOMS

Each room will accommodate 8 to 10 people comfortably. The rooms are suitable for small training sessions, workshops, and meetings or group discussion. The rooms contain two large tables set up boardroom style with easy to move and supportive chairs. There is access to a white board, flip chart and overhead projector. Each room has large windows allowing in the natural light.

  • The standard rate for room hire is $250 a day or $125 for ˝ day

  • Minimum booking time is 3 hours

  • Outside Library opening hours a security fee of $60 per hour will be charged

  • If cleaning is required a fee of $50 will be charged

Prior to the booking date it is necessary for the hirer/user to:

  • specify/request all the equipment that will be required and

  • make themselves familiar with the equipment as there is no technical support outside office hours (9am - 5pm).

EXHIBITION SPACE

The Library’s foyer area is made available for hire for exhibitions and displays. The exhibition space is provided on a community access basis, providing a venue for individuals and groups to present a wide range of arts and craft, history and cultures. The rate for hire is price on application.

WAVERLEYWORKS COMPUTER TRAINING ROOM

Level 1 Waverley Library

The training room is equipped with the latest technology; 10 student multimedia computers and an instructor’s computer with 17" monitors. The standard configuration of each machine is Windows XP, Office 2000 and Internet Access via ADSL. The room is networked to an NT Server and has its own printing facility. For a fee client’s own software can be installed onto the computers.

In addition to the computer equipment there is a multi media projector connected to the instructors computer, a projection screen and white board. Each workstation has an ergonomic gas adjustable chair and the room has reverse cycle air conditioning. Break out facilities are provided next to the training room which includes a kitchen for catering purposes.

The standard rate for room hire is:

  • $550 a day or $330 for 1/2 day (3hrs).

  • Minimum booking time is 3 hours

  • Outside Library opening hours a security fee of $50 per hour will be charged

  • If cleaning is required a fee of $60 will be charged.
