Tax Deductable Donations

General Guidelines

  • Waverley Library is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient
  • Most gifts to the library may be claimed as tax deductions
  • Gifts may be cash, property, cultural gifts or bequests eg: significant collections of books or historical photographys.  These gifts can be used by the library.
  • The amount of the deduction will depend on the type of gift.  For cash, it is the amount of the gift.  For other gifts, valuations (which may also be tax deductible) are required.  The general rule is that the amount of the deduction is the average of two or more written valuations made by valuers approved by the Departments of Communications, Information Technolody and the Arts.  The library can provide a list of approved valuers.
  • All cash donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
  • GST is not applocable on these donations.

How is the money used?

Waverley Library provides a broad range of services for the community.  These may be directed towards childrens, older people, the housebound, students, people from other countries and those with special needs.  Literacy and reading, study and information, community and cultural programs, storytelling for disadvantaged groups and a Home Library Service are just a few of the services provided.

The library is a focal point for a wide range of community activities and we work cooperatively with many individuals and grounds to provide these services.  If you would like to assist please contact us on 9386 7777.

How  to make a donation?

If you would like to make a donation to the Library, cheques should be payable to Waverley Library and forwarded to 32-48 Denison Street, Bondi Junction 2022.  You will receive a special receipt to enable you to  claim a tax deduction.
