Home Library Service

The Waverley and Botany Home Library Service provides a free service delivering fortnightly or monthly, items chosen from the library to housebound residents of the two Council areas. The Service is also available for those residents who unable to carry their loans home from the library.

Who may join?

Residents who live in the Waverley or Botany Council areas who are either temporarily or permanently housebound, due to age, illness or disablility and have no reasonable alternative to home delivery of library materials. The membership is for a minimum of three months.

How do I join?

Contact Waverley or Botany Libraries for a registration form. Contact details are below. The form needs to be signed by a doctor, nurse, or Meals on Wheel’s officer stating that the incapacity is for a period of more than three months. This form can be either mailed or handed in to the library. Home Library staff phone the applicants to discuss the particular reading requirements and the day on which the items will be delivered. The service is started as soon as possible after the form is received and contact is made.

Materials available

Every effort is made to choose material that meets the demands of the borrower. Staff choose items on an individual basis and from a wide range of resources available from the Library. These include:

  • Fiction
  • Non fiction
  • Large print books both fiction and non fiction
  • DVDs
  • Books on CD
  • Downloadable books on Audio Read Navigators
  • Music  CDs
  • Magazines
  • Books in languages other than English
  • Reference and internet searches

IPlease submit your requests for any specific titles or subjects to the Home Library Service driver or call call the Service on 9386 7717.

The staff will endeavour to meet your requests either by the material held by the library or getting the material from another library for you.

There is no charge for this service.
