Bronte House Open Day

Next Sunday week (21st) will be an open day at historic Bronte House. Bronte House, designed by the the Government Architect Mortimer Lewis, was built in 1845. When first built it was surrounded by 42 acres ! Now it is a well conserved house with a spectacular garden which has been restored to its former glory. Open Day November 21st from 11am-3pm Adults $5, Concession $2.50. There will also be a combined Bronte House /Waverley Cemetery Tour for $15 (limited places). The guided cemetery tour will commence at 2pm. The cemetery is stunning with delicately carved marble headstones sweeping down to the sea and it also has lots of interesting people buried there.

Pet Care & Microchips

Council rangers together with the local vets have just visited Waverley, Bronte, Bondi and Bondi Beach public schools to tell students how to look after pets. Pets are often given to children for Christmas, which is fast approaching, so it was a good time to get out to the school with some basic pet care. One of our rangers took his docile bull dog to demonstrate how to handle dogs and she loved all the attention she got. Now anyone getting a new dog or cat must have it microchipped. The microchip is inserted in the neck . Lost animals can be scanned and, if microchipped, the owner’s details are quickly located which saves a lot of heartache.

Miroma Open Day

Art and craft will be on display and workshops in painting and papermaking will be held at Miroma Special School’s Annual Open Day. The school has delightful gardens to stroll around and the coffee shop will serve a range of light refreshments. The Open Day will be held from 11am –4pm on Saturday, 20th November at Miroma, 8 Village High Road, Vaucluse.
