Community Sharps Disposal
Many people rely on using needles, syringes and lancets to maintain their own health or that of a family member. Safe disposal of these community sharps is a concern for the whole community.
These community sharps should not be placed in waste or recycling bins as they can cause injury to workers or members of the public. Disposal of these sharps is now easier. By taking them to a participating chemist you can safely and easily dispose of them in a:
- sharps container
- sturdy plastic, puncture resistant container (not glass), or
- container suggested by your chemist.
No loose needles, syringes or lancets will be accepted.
