Hiring a Venue

Waverley Council has a Sustainable Events Policy to ensure that events held at Council owned venues or that are held by Council externally have minimal impact on the environment.The Policy aims to assist event organisers - from sporting events to parties to training sessions - minimise waste, energy and water use and protect the local biodiversity.

The Policy and supporting documents apply to:

  • All Waverley Council activities requiring booking, hiring or permit for use of Council or private venues, public open space or sports fields.
  • Community activities requiring a Council licence or permit for use of public open space.
  • Community activities requiring a Council licence or permit for use of sports fields.
  • Commercial fitness groups and personal trainers requiring a Council permit.
  • Community activities requiring hiring of Council owned and operated venues.
  • Community activities requiring a special event licence from Council.

Waverley Council owned and operated properties

Waverley Council provides a range of venues throughout the area that are available for hire by the community, cultural organisations, businesses and private individuals. The facilities are ideal for accommodating a range of different functions including seminars, corporate presentations, product launches, training sessions, workshops, auctions, exhibitions, leisure activities, weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and children's birthday parties.

The new Waverley Park Pavilion is due to open in the coming months. Council is now seeking applications for advanced bookings from the community including clubs and organisations who want to hire the new facilities on a regular or one-off basis, including the sports court, community room and club room.
