Mural Code & guidelines
Murals can be an engaging option for covering vulnerable blank walls. Waverley Council’s Mural Guidelines provide helpful tips for community groups, businesses or residents to develop inspiring street art with respect for the local area.
Tips to consider:
- The History of the site
- Current use of the area
- The people who visit the area
- The buildings, plants and structures
- The opportunity to create street art that enriches the area
More information relating to murals and guidelines will be added shortly.
Bondi Promenade Wall
The history of aerosol art painted on Bondi wall dates back to the 1960’s, and the wall continues to contribute to the energetic character of Bondi Beach. Waverley Council will aim to maintain this dynamic character by supporting mural turnover. Diversity will be achieved through balancing the type of murals painted and the variety of artists selected.

Civic Pride projects
Get active, get together and feel good! Waverley Council’s Civic Pride Program is helping residents build communities and celebrate safe and welcoming neighbourhoods!
If you want to strengthen your neighbourhood there are many ways to get involved:
Adopt a tree or
plant a footpath garden to make your area cleaner and greener, meet your neighbours and keep your place free of graffiti to show potential taggers that you are a community that takes pride in your place.
Visit the
Civic Pride webpage for more information on Civic Pride Projects.
Engaging young people
Waverley Council continues to work in partnership with young people in our community.
Many projects have been undertaken with WAYS Youth service to create vibrant murals at Bondi Beach Skate Park.
This year Waverley Council will focus on developing recreation projects with young people around Bondi Junction.
