Park Maintenance

Being located in one of Australia’s most densely populated council areas, our parks and reserves are intensely used. In addition, some reserves, such as Bondi Park, Bronte Park, Waverley Oval and the Bondi to Bronte Coast Walk attract visitors from well outside Waverley.

In order to meet its goal of providing accessible, attractive, safe, clean open space for its residents’ recreational and cultural needs, while working within its staff and financial resources, Council maintains a regular 6-week maintenance cycle for most of its parks and reserves. However, this may vary to suit weather conditions, special events and resource availability.

Council enhances its maintenance resources by charging reasonable park use fees on a ‘user pays’ basis. A schedule of fees (328KB Acrobat document) is available in Council’s Management Plan.

Maintenance problems are inspected as soon as possible and assigned a priority, primarily depending on the risk and safety issues involved.
