Citizenship Ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies are an opportunity to celebrate our cultural diversity and welcome new citizens to Waverley along with their family and friends.

Ceremonies are held monthly at Council Chambers in Bondi Junction and are led by the Mayor of Waverley, Councillor Sally Betts.

Ceremony details

Ceremonies commence at 7.30pm, and are held at:

Waverley Council Chambers
Cnr Bondi Road and Paul Street
Bondi Junction

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your ceremony is due to start so that you can register. To register, you will need to present your letter from the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP) outlining the details of your citizenship ceremony and photo identification (either a driver's licence or passport).

The official ceremony takes approximately 1 hour and is followed by light refreshments for you and your guests.

Council arranges a photographer to take photos at the ceremony. You are welcome to bring along your personal camera, however, commercial filming and photography is not permitted.

If you are unable to attend the citizenship ceremony advised by DIBP, you must contact the Department immediately so they can provide you with an alternative date. Please note that Waverley Council is unable to reschedule your ceremony.

If you do not advise the DIBP that you cannot attend and you miss your ceremony, Council is unable to provide you with your certificate and it must be returned to the DIBP.
