


Better Futures is a NSW Government approach to working with 9-18 year olds in targeted areas. The South East Sydney Region Better Futures Executive Group was established in 2004 after consultation with services from the region. One of the key priorities for the Inner & Eastern Sydney sub region (Botany, City of Sydney, Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra Local Government areas) was the lack of recreation and other opportunities for 9-13 year olds.
In September 2005, the “Inner and Eastern Sydney Better Futures Pre-Teens Research Project” report was adopted (see link) which highlights many of the issues for the 9-13 year old age group in the sub region.
This two year NSW DOCS funded project was auspiced by Waverley Council to work in the sub region. The objectives of this project include:
