Waverley Meals on Wheels and Shopping Service

The Waverley Meals on Wheels and Shopping Service is funded by Waverley Council and the NSW Home and Community Care (HACC) Program.

The aim of the service is to enable people to continue to live comfortably in their home.

How do I know if I am eligible for the services?

You will be eligible for our services if you are frail aged, have a disability or care for someone who is frail aged or has a disability.  You are welcome to use our service on a short or long term basis.

What Services are available?

Daily Meals: Delivered Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. Each meal costs $5.00 and includes a dessert and fruit juice.

Frozen Meals: These meals are delivered weekly. The cost is $4.00 per meal.

Shopping Service: Council subsidises the cost of home shopping delivery by $3.45

Referral Support and information: We provide referrals and information on a range of issues. Please contact us if you would like further information on local services providing transport, home nursing, home care or activities at the Waverley Community and Seniors Centre.

What if I have specialist dietary requirements? Please speak with the Coordinator regarding any specialist dietary requirements. We can cater for people with: diabetes, gluten intolerances, chewing or swallowing difficulties.

Are Meals provided on weekends or public holidays? No, our service does not deliver on weekends or public holidays. You can order frozen meals to cover those days. Frozen meals need to be ordered a week in advance.

We will phone or visit you to talk about the service we provide and to assess your needs.

Would you like to be a Meals on Wheels Volunteer? Are you, or do you know someone who is interested in becoming a volunteer? If so please call the Volunteer Coordinator on 9386 7977. Volunteers are needed for morning deliveries Monday to Friday. You don’t need a driving licence in order to help, just spare time and community spirit.
