Waverley Council through its vision and mission is committed to provide appropriate, equitable and accessible services to all the Waverley community.
The 2001 ABS indicates that a significant proportion (20.7%) of Waverley’s residents was born in non-English speaking countries while 0.3 of the population is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders background. In order to service this diversity the Council has developed specific access and equity policies which direct its objectives, strategies and practices.
Multicultural Policy
The document contains the history of Council’s Multicultural Policy, an overview of Council’s five departments, their activities and programs and their responsibilities under the Action Plan.
Information on resources, processes and networks is also provided to assist Council employees to implement the strategies identified in the Action Plan.
The Action Plan was updated in 2003 incorporating suggestions made by the working group of Council’s Multicultural Advisory Committee. The community profile and legislative requirements were updated in 2004, following changes in these areas.
