Shopping Centre Protocol

In 2003 Waverley Council held a series of community consultations for its Community Safety Plan; it was during these discussions that young people told us of their need to feel safe in the area, and to have "safe and inclusive" places where they could hang out.

In October 2003 the Bondi Junction Community Safety and Young People's Committee was formed to research and design a youth protocol for the Bondi Junction CBD to allow young people and other members of the community to feel safe and welcome in Bondi Junction. The Committee is made up of a wide range of community members-from shopping centre security staff and members of the Chamber of Commerce, to members of local youth groups and Council reps.

The Committee's hard work is finally starting to pay off and we now have a draft of the two documents that will be given out to businesses and to schools and young people. Both documents will be added to this web page as soon as they are finalised.
