Winner for Heritage Conservation Design Category- Bronte Pool
Architects: Bronte Pool Project Management Team
Owner: Waverley Council
Description: The Bronte Pool Project Management Team supervised stabilisation of the pool after it was damaged by wave action. Works to the existing wall maintained the forms and finishes of this socially and aesthetically significant ocean pool, which first opened in 1887.
Necessary structural stabilisation, including a new inner lining, capping, and finishes has retained the essential aspects of "ocean bathing” allowing bathers to lie in breaking waves. Also, improvements to access and enclosure of the pool outlet have increased safety for bathers.
