Salon Inspections
Skin penetration procedures, hairdressing and beauty salon
Waverley council has about 150 hairdressers and premises where skin penetration procedures are carried out and that are regularly inspected by councils Environmental Health Officers. Procedures performed at these premises include but not limited:
- Pedicure (including removal of dead skin)
- Manicure (including acrylic, gel nails, cutting of cuticles and skin wicks)
- Tattooing
- Hairdressing
- Body piercing (including ear piercing)
- Beauty treatment/therapy (eg skin lacing, removal of dead skin and black head extraction)
- Acupuncture
- Any other activity which includes skin penetration.
These premises are inspected annually. Premises are checked for compliance with the public health legislation and associated codes and guidelines that deal with issues such as cleanliness, construction, sterilisation of equipment and usage practices and personal hygiene of staff.

Inspection fees
An inspection fee is charged in accordance with Council's Pricing Policy, Fees & Charges. If Councils EHO’s are required to reinspect the salon a fee will be charged.
