Food Businesses & Related Issues

Waverley Council has approximately 500 food shop businesses operating in the local government area, which are regularly monitored by Council’s EHO’s. Food businesses are inspected to ensure compliance with the Food Act 2003 and the Food Standards Code

The EHO’s also follow up on complaints regarding the contamination of food or unclean food premises. Waverley Council also works in partnership with the NSW Food Authority  in addressing food related matters.

Inspection Fees

An inspection fee is charged in accordance with Council's Pricing Policy, Fees & Charges. If Councils EHO’s are required to reinspect the food business a fee will be charged.

You can notify your business in one of two ways:
Submit your notification via the internet. It is fast, free of charge and provides you with an instant certificate of confirmation. Follow instructions on how to complete your notification online at www.foodnotify.nsw.gov.au.
Paper form: paper forms can be submitted to the NSW Food Authority directly. Please be aware that all paper forms incur a charge of $55.00 (GST included). Contact the Food Notification Help Desk on 1300 650 124 to obtain a form.
